Welcome to the Hammond's Website

The Hammond Family are SIM missionaries working as the Program Co-ordinators for the SIM “Hope for AIDS” program in Malawi, Southern Africa. This site is designed to keep family, friends and supporters up to date on what is happening with them and their work.

We hope to add new photos to this page regularly, update prayer points every few weeks and a produce a new edition of our newsletter ‘Malawi Matters’ every few months.

There are also some ‘quick links’ below to the SIM Australia and UK general websites, the overall SIM ‘Hope for AIDS’ website and any other sites we think you might find interesting for background information relating to AIDS and our work in Malawi!

ENJOY exploring!! If you want to send us a message or have any suggestions on improving this site then please use the ‘contact’ link of this site.

Rural Voluntary Counselling & Testing

Most of the peer educators have now finished their first 10 week series of Bible studies but, due to popular demand, have had to repeat various sessions so that those who missed them the first time round didn’t miss out! Now the first church, Chidzala, has held their AIDS awareness event in order to connect with their local community, using drama and song, complete with a little VCT (voluntary counseling and test) centre made of bamboo fence (pictured) and several more are planned for February and March. Some places have delayed their event because other churches have approached them and asked them to run the course for their youth as well so they will do that first.
